Raakva is a spacious two-bedroom, three-person Junior Suite on the second floor in Ilmaveere. It has a spectacular view of the terrace and Obinitsa Lake. Being slightly pink, it has a certain romantic feel to it. The coloring is done by the clay paints of Saviukumaja. By mixing these with earthly tones, we got just the right palette – the early spring and lilacs blossoming. An arch in the ceiling, found only in this room, adds to the romance.
A bit of history behind the name of the room:
Raakva is the closest “nulk” – a Seto word for a specific area, a corner – to the Seto capital Petseri. The capital is currently on the Russian side, but Raakva is fully in Estonia. The center of this “nulk” is the village of Matsuri, where a school used to be. Today, it is a favorite place for Japanese tourists, since “Matsuri” means “festival” in their language. It’s a small world, isn’t it?
