Koolina is the largest unit in Ilmaveere, expanding through the 3rd and 4th floors. This two-bedroom suite sleeps four people and features two exceptionally large balconies on the fourth floor, looking both north and south. It’s also the highest point in Ilmaveere and provides an exceptional 360-degree view of the Obinitsa village, forest, and lake.

It has a bright, minimalist style. The whites are accompanied by the subtle grey of concrete, which gives it a truly Nordic feel. Of course, you are welcome to use the Nature Spa, but these rooms also have their own baths if you prefer to relax in private. For those who love caffeine, there is also a coffee machine in the room.

A bit of history behind the name of the room:

The name Koolina comes from the former Koolina manor and village dated to 1585 (Голино in Russian). Most of the Meremäe county villages were under the rule of the manor. These were the only villages to obey the manor in Setomaa, since the rest were governed by the Petseri monastery. Because of the manor rule, it was also called “the hard stick”. Koolina sounds similar to Latvian Galiņi and Lithuanian Galiniai, roughly meaning “the border, end, or an area” in both languages. Majority of Koolina is now part of Estonia, the most populated village being Meremäe. There is also a working dolomite quarry nearby.
