The word “Tsätski” has a certain spark written in it. So it is no surprise that for this standard double room we used a energetic, slightly orange shade of terracotta. The large windows and balcony opens to the southern side and provide an exceptional view of the Obinitsa Lake. Views are a common theme in Ilmaveere and like for the rest of the rooms, a painting of a “modern Seto woman” was ordered from artist Elina Kasesalu especially for this room.
A bit of history behind the name of the room:
Tsätski “nulk” or “corner” is the second largest in Setomaa. It’s quite flat and sandy and surrounded by different bodies of water – Piusa River, Bay of Värska, Pihkva Lake, Bay of Kulje. Värska, the largest settlement of Setomaa on the Estonian side, is also located in this area. It is also the administrative center of Setomaa. Every village in Setomaa has its own religious holidays and the one here is St. George’s Day, which according to the old calendar is always celebrated on May 6.
