The Poloda standard double room with a balcony is located on the second floor and has an exceptional view of Obinitsa Lake. Although the balconies are adjacent to neighboring rooms, they are separated from each other by planters. The room has a natural green palette, which is achieved with UKU clay paints. These are environmentally friendly and 100% natural – they do not contain volatile organic compounds or synthetic preservatives and are odorless. The sinks in Ilmaveere’s bathrooms are handcrafted by master craftsman Meelis Krigul in the Piusa clay workshop. Not only have eco-friendly high-quality materials been used in construction and finishing, but extra care has been taken in choosing the textiles as well. The keyword, once again, being natural, these provide the best sleep one could dream of.
A bit of history behind the name of the room:
Poloda is the larger “nulk” or corner in Setomaa with almost 40 villages. It is relatively flat area. Two rivers define the border with Estonia – Mädajõgi and Võhandu. The center of Poloda is Mikitamäe village, which is the second largest in Estonian Setomaa. Its so wealthy they have 2 “tsässons” or prayer-houses next to each other. The older of these two was built in 1694 and is the oldest wooden building in mainland Estonia.
